A: Thirty years ago, we didn’t really know what cancer was or how to effectively treat it. Today, thanks to research like that going on at The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute, we now know that there are well over 200 types of cancer, and that each type is very different from the others. Today, thanks to research, we have effective screening and treatment for many types of cancer. If Terry Fox were to be diagnosed today for example, he would be much less likely to lose his leg to cancer and he could live to continue the fight. So progress has clearly been made.
However, research is costly and takes time to have an impact. For example, Herceptin, a drug that was developed at UCLA that benefits patients with one particular sub-type of breast cancer, took more than 10 years to develop and test, and at a cost of well over $200 million and much more to commercialize. More breakthroughs of this kind will be discovered, but we won’t get there without ongoing funding. The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute has a world-class research team in place. However, we need ongoing funding, like that from The Journey To Conquer Cancer- Run or Walk to continue to invest in research and maintain our momentum of discovery, most importantly, to advance Personalized Cancer Medicine.
A: It's easy with our secure online credit card process. Click the "Donate" button at the top of this page and select the participant you want to donate to. Choose a donation amount and follow the instructions. Donors will receive a tax receipt via email.
A: We make every effort to protect your personal information. The software we use for registrations and donations on the website uses industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. Our software provider is certified as PCI-DSS compliant by Telus, a qualified Security Assessor. Credit card information is never stored in our database or our software provider's database.
A: Simply go to a participant‘s Personal Page and print out the donation form or print off the form found under the forms section of this page. Mail this form in with your cheque or by providing your relevant credit card information. The mailing address is on the form. You can also get a form by calling our office at 416-946-6584 and we can mail or fax you one. You will receive a receipt by email if your form includes a valid email address, or by mail if not.
A: Yes, you can absolutely receive cash donations. But, please do not mail the cash to us! We don’t want it to get lost in the mail. Instead, write a cheque for the donation amount and mail it in with your donation form just be sure to enter the donor’s information (all fields) on the donation form. You can also make the donation online using your credit card just be sure to put the donor’s information in the required fields.
A: The participant centre is the password protected area of the website available to you once you register. Once registered login with your username and password to access some excellent tools which will allow you to monitor your donations, set up or edit your Personal Page, send emails to potential donors or teammates, and more!

Personal Page
Your Personal Page serves as your main communication piece to tell your story to potential donors, appeal to sponsors, and show your fundraising progress. Update your page with photos and video to let people know why you are participating.
Email Centre
The E-mail Centre provides a host of e-mail templates that you can customize, or create your own, to help support your fundraising efforts.
Edit Profile
Edit Profile/Team Profile contains your user information including: ID, password, contact information and fundraising goal, and allows you to update this information.
Donation History
Donation History allows you to keep your campaign on track by monitoring the funds raised in relation to your goal, viewing donation details, re-issuing Tax Receipts and, if need be, adjusting your fundraising goal.
The Address Book
The Address Book allows you to add or import contacts from other e-mail programs, edit contact information, send, monitor, and track responses relating to your fundraising efforts.
Follow Ups
Follow-ups helps you track and monitor your campaign communications with handy reminders letting you know who has visited your Personal/Team page, who has donated, who you need to send a “Thank you” e-mail to, and much more.
A: Are your friends and family overwhelming you with their response? Why not increase your fundraising goal? Simply login to your Participant Centre and click on Donation History. Type in your New Fundraising Goal in the box and click on the “Update Goal” button to submit your new goal.
